6 Healthy Morning Habits I Do Daily

I've been on a semi-health kick lately. Since visiting LA, I realized the "healthy lifestyle" isn't as horrid or hard to achieve as it may seem. I say semi-health kick because I'm still mainly eating like trash and not implementing enough cardio into my workout routine, but I digress. Anyways, here are 6 healthy morning habits that I've been doing daily to improve my lifestyle:

  1. Waking Up Earlier -- waking up at 7:00 am every day for the past month has greatly improved the quality of my days. I don't officially start my work day until 10:00 am so waking up earlier has allowed me to have more time and energy to myself.

  2. Drinking Water -- my boyfriend always keeps a glass of water by the bed at night. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is drink it! Drinking room temperature to warm water in the morning is great to rehydrate your body after a long sleep. Trust me, your organs need this!

  3. Listening to a Podcast -- listening to a podcast while getting ready helps me get into a good mood and head-space first thing in the morning. Right now I'm binging the Optimal Living Daily podcasts. A narrator reads blogs on personal development, minimalism, finance, health, business, and more with the author;s permission. I start my day off on a good note and always end up learning something new.

  4. Making My Bed -- there's something about making my bed in the morning that sets the tone for the rest of the day. My mom used to say, "A messy room is a messy life," and this still rings true to me.

  5. Talk to God -- Recently I downloaded the Inspirations app onto my iPhone. It sends me a reminder every morning at 7:15 am to tap into the app and read an inspirational and uplifting bible verse or devotion. There's even a journal feature where you can write out your thoughts, gratuity, and prayers.

  6. Journaling -- If I had a particularly rough night or feel anxiety about the day creeping onto me I'll grab my journal and write. Free-writing or word vomiting is my jam. I always fill up a few pages into my journal and feel extremely lightweight afterward. It's definitely therapeutic.

Besides eating breakfast and drinking coffee, these 6 healthy morning habits have greatly changed my morning routine and life altogether. Making small changes like these have benefitted my mental clarity and overall happiness. What are 6 things you do in the morning that have improved your lifestyle?
