Relax & Refresh Routine | 5 MOOD BOOSTERS


We’ve all been there: tired, unmotivated, annoyed, and the like. I find myself in this sunken place generally towards the end of the month from lack of rest and lack of self-care. Around this time, recharging my batteries is crucial before the impending mental breakdown ensues. Here are my favorite ways to relax and refresh!

Sweat it Out

In case you didn’t know, I suffer from anxiety and depression. So, it’s important for me to check in with my body and emotions every so often. Especially if I find myself being super irritable and fatigued for no apparent reason. In these instances it’s best for me to sweat it out. I suggest running on the treadmill for 30 minutes, or rolling out a mat and following a yoga routine on YouTube. This always clears my mind and puts me in a better head space. Plus, it’s good for you to break a sweat every once in a while!

Clean Out Clutter

My mom use to say, “If your room is a mess, your life is a mess.” Whenever I’m feeling drained, unmotivated, and uninspired it’s no coincidence that my personal space is a disaster. Take the time to clear out clutter, put things in their place, and just CLEAN UP. This makes a world of a difference in my mood. Plus, it’s always easier to relax in a clean space where air can flow and your plants can breathe.

Plan Out New Goals

Now that I’ve cleared my head and cleaned my room, I’ll grab my planner and write down my goals for the week along with the steps I need to take to achieve them. Having a clear plan for the week makes it easier to stay on track and get things done when you intend too. I suggest getting one of those cute planners that comes with a goals section and stickers so that you’ll be more inclined to use it!

Take a Bath

Since I live with roommates I don’t get to enjoy our deep soak bathtub, but whenever I’m feeling down I take a hot ass shower to revive my spirits. Trust me, taking time to care for yourself is worth it. Shower, wash your hair, shave, use your favorite soaps, then lather on your favorite lotion and body spray when you’re done. You’'ll FEEL good. You can even take it a step further and paint your nails in your bathrobe with a glass of wine. Treat yo self!

Do Something You Love with Someone You Love

There’s nothing like recharging your batteries with someone who doesn’t drain them. Whether that be your significant other, your fur baby, or your damn self. It doesn’t matter! Go for a walk, watch a movie, have a dance party, paint, sing, whatever! Make time for a hobby that you enjoy doing. For me, this is watching scary movies on Netflix with my boyfriend and eating take out. It takes my mind off my stresses and puts me in the moment with someone I care about.
