Overcoming Fear & Gaining Self-Confidence

Most people are scared of something. Whether it’s snakes, flying insects, falling from a high place, or getting caught with their pants down. Personally, my biggest fear is drowning, so I stay in the 4 foot section of the swimming pool. This would be an issue if I wanted to be an Olympic swimmer, but thankfully that’s not my goal here. However, if your fear is holding you back from achieving your goals then that’s something to be concerned about. Today, I’m sharing my personal tips to overcoming fear and gaining self-confidence so that you can be the badass goal-chaser (and conqueror) that you are!

Get to Know Yourself

What are your goals? What steps can you take now to achieve them? What makes you tick? What calms you down? Knowing yourself plays a huge role on the grand scheme of things. It’s time to dig deep and really ask yourself, what are you afraid off?

Stay Disciplined

Work towards your goal every day, no matter if you feel motivated or not. Being disciplined is your bread and butter on days when you just, “don’t feel like it.” Remember, if you can work eight hours for someone else, then you can find the time to work a few hours for yourself.

Eliminate Negative Thoughts & Relationships

You must be very aware of how you speak to yourself in your head and out loud. If you constantly tell yourself that something is “too hard,” then guess what? It’s going to be too hard! The same goes for the negative people in your life. If they’re constantly speaking negative to you (or worse, about you) then it’s time to remove yourself from that toxic relationship. Trust me sis, you don’t need that energy! Surround yourself with people that give you confidence to face your fears, not create more of them.

Focus on Solutions

Don’t be a problem picker. Be a problem-solver. Stop complaining now, and start finding solutions to your problems. Trust me, it’s the best thing you can do for yourself and your confidence! Just remember, you can’t fix or change everything so focus on things within your control like your attitude, your mindset, or the time you wake up in the morning.

Exercise

I know I say this a lot, but exercising can change your entire world. Especially when it comes to goal-chasing and confidence. I always feel like I can conquer the world after running on the elliptical for 30 minutes, or sweating my pores out in hot yoga for an hour. It’s a major confidence booster when you complete a workout, just try it and see how you feel afterwards!

Learn Something New

Empowering yourself with knowledge is definitely a confidence booster. Seek to teach yourself something new in your niche every day. In the mornings I listen to the Optimal Living Daily Podcast to learn what I could be doing better regarding my finances or health. I also take the last hour of my work day to read a marketing related article or blog post to further my knowledge in the field. Trust me, you’ll feel more confident than ever.

Just Say F It

Feel the fear and do it anyways. It’s obviously easier said than done, but it’s something that I like to remind myself when I’m feeling fearful or doubtful about something that could help me achieve my goals!
