3 Face Masks for Oily and Acne-Prone Skin

Face masks have always been a staple in my self-care routine, but up until this summer, they weren’t a top priority in my skincare routine. In my quest to clear, even, radiant skin I decided to take three masks in particular as seriously as I do my cleansers. Who would have guessed this would've helped my oily and acne-prone skin (hormonal cystic acne to be exact) tremendously!

Frank Body Anti Drama Face Mask, $21.95

1. Frank Body Anti Drama Face Mask

I avoided this brand for a while, simply because it just seemed too good to be true (awesome branding AND a great product, strange). Then I received the Frank Body Anti Drama Face Mask in my goodie bag from the Forever 21 x Riley Rose launch event. I decided to give it a try and now I use it 2-3 times a week. The blend of charcoal, chamomile, honey, lavender, and evening primrose oil do three main things: detoxify, fight acne, and calm skin. My skin looks brighter, smoother, and less irritated after each use.

2. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

When it’s that time of the month, I’m always alerted a week before with a major breakout. To calm zits and any hormonal acne I always reach for Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque. This powerful clay mask draws out impurities in the skin, soaks up oil, and minimizes zits in 10 minutes or less. My skin is left feeling refreshed and clean. However, I must admit the one thing I love most about this mask is the price!

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Facial Treatment, $7.99

3. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

I like to give my skin a complete reset once a month. For this, I reach for Aztec Secret's Indian Healing Clay, also known as the Original Bentonite Clay mask. I mix one part of the powder to one part apple cider vinegar in a non-metal bowl with a non-metal makeup brush and apply to my face. Then, I leave it on for 20 minutes or until completely hardened. To be completely transparent, when this mask dries it’s very uncomfortable and your skin will feel like it’s pulsating, but the results are so worth it. Afterward, my skin is always red so I don’t recommend doing this mask at the start of your day. Once I complete the rest of my skincare routine, my face feels at it’s very cleanest and refreshed for the month!
